Socrates was a Greek philosopher from Athens. He was the first moral philosopher and founder of western philosophy. His father Sophroniscus was a sculptor and a mason and his mother Phaenarete was a midwife.

Socrates was said to be ugly with bulging eyes, large belly, and flat turned-up nose. He was married to a younger lady, Xanthippe. He had a disputed marital life with her wife, as he was spending time philosophizing without earning anything for a living.

He said to have bathed rarely, walk in barefoot, and use one rag coat with limited eating, drinking, and sex.

His brilliant students were Aristotle, Plato, Xenophon, and Aristophanes. He hadn't documented his teachings. Mainly his students Plato and Xenophon popularize his teachings.

He was accused of polarizing and corrupting the youth with his anti-religion and anti-god lessons. He was sentenced to death by Hemlock poisoning. He had an opportunity to escape but he declined.
