Plato was born in Athens of Greek in an aristocratic family. He was both a philosopher and mathematician.

He was a student of Socrates and a teacher of Aristotle. He brought the works of Socrates into the limelight. He said Socrates is the best of all men I have ever known. 

After the death of Socrates, he left Athens for many years and returned to found an institute of scientific and philosophical research called ‘The Academy’ where Aristotle was a student. It was also the first western institution to offer higher learning.
