Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi is commonly known as Rumi. He was a Persian poet. He was born in 1207 in Afghanistan and died on 17 December 1273 in Konya presently Turkey. The political turmoil in the Afghanistan area made his family move and settled in Turkey.

His life changed when he met his guru Sham al-Din, a divinely blessed person. Rumi was a scholar and greatly admired for his learning.

He wrote the famous poem “Masnavi”. It is one of the most influential pieces of Islamic literature.
